2007 Atheists Discussion on the Absurdity of Human Religion

Most atheists and agnostics simply cannot fathom how anyone could accept most modern day religions hook, line and sinker. In fact it baffles them that others find solace with an invisible friend in their minds. We know that over the millennium that religions have slightly modified themselves to stay up with modern societies and in some cases these modern societies never developed due to the strangle hold of religion.

It is truly amazing that if a child still believes in Santa Clause past about age 10 that we label them as slow learners. Yet, we have adults who accept such insane stories as the Bible or Koran as literal for their entire lives. An atheist of course cannot figure out how this is possible and perhaps considers that these folks are schizophrenic or have a mental disorder. Can we get them psychiatric help? Hard to say, as to get real help first you have to admit you have a problem, which does not seem possible if you discuss religion with a true or born again believer you see?

As Bertand Russell once said; “It is truly amazing what humans can be led to believe” and indeed he is right and there is no better example of this than human religions. From Cargo Ship Cults to Voodoo Witch Doctors and from Christianity to Islam it should be obvious that; “Houston, ah, we have a problem!” Nevertheless, it is the atheist who is outcast, instead of the religious lunacy and one has to ask; how can mankind progress with the shackles of religion or be expected to look outside the cave if he has convinced himself that he must devote his life to an imaginary friend, carefully chosen for him and created by those men who wished to control his life experience?

If you are an Atheist or Agnostic borderline fence dweller you will indeed enjoy this book. If you are a true believer of God, Allah or even the Flying Spaghetti Monster for that matter, you will most likely hate this work and hate me for writing it; I have come to expect such hate and hypocrisy from faith-based men, yet I assure you I do not forgive you and it is not okay to live a lie. Perhaps this article is of interest to propel thought in 2007?
