2007 Domain Name Game

Often people go overboard registering Domain Names, as they want to make sure that no one gets the name that they choose. In fact they also try to register the domain name for their personal names too. But why do this? Registering many versions of your personal name such as YourName.com, .net, .org, .tv and etc might be a fun thing to do and sure it does not cost much but why do it at all?

Since When is registering your own name fifteen ways from Sunday going to help you in an online business make money? Since when is it fair to your family budget to register a bunch of domain names without any money coming in? Since when is an "Internet Marketing Business" truly viable, as most of the millions of Internet online businesses make no money at all?

Since when is the success of a local Bowling Alley predicated solely on its website? Yes you need Internet Presence so people can see you are a real business, but if you think business is that easy? Hmm? What did you say your IQ was again there?

Recently I had this very conversation with a gentleman who believed that he would make millions of dollars on the Internet, simply by setting up websites and selling domain names. He even named 3 people who claimed they made millions on the Internet doing such things and thus concluded this must be the way to get rich? So I thought well;

Sorry I have never heard of one of these people and wondered how any one could conclude based on the hype of a get-rich-quick website that they too would soon become millionaires. You cannot be serious? After all;

"U-2 can make millions stuffing envelopes part time working in your Underware"

I mean come on David I thought, there is so much BS and trash on the Internet these days selling all sorts of ridiculous crap. Apparently the way these people are making money is by selling to people they believe are suckers. You cannot be that naive David. Come on, please David lets talk about reality. This fantasy stuff should be obvious.

There is no such thing as "an easy way" it is all hard work. Nothing "good" in life is easy. The only reason these people exist on the Internet is probably because there are 4 million websites selling junk out there and trying to catch them all is nearly impossible.

I tell you these get-rich-quick scam artists on the Internet really hurt the "real companies" out there with their hype.
