Often it is as if we are playing catch up
Hurrying along, trying to keep our head up
Endeavoring to get, grasp, and understand
Quickly acclimate and accumulate all we can
Nobody likes a self-absorbed, pushy man
Pathetic, pretentious, and proud as a peacock
Someone whom you cannot draw near to talk
God help me be a tender and true gentleman
To sincerely, patiently listen as much as I can
To be self-effacing, modest, and unassuming
Able to care, connect, and cry with deep feeling.
