When it's time for a new start with a fresh outlook on life, there is no better approach than creating a sacred ceremony to focus your new intentions. You might be celebrating another January 1st, or a birthday or some other marker on the calendar that signifies regeneration for you.You could also create a sacred beginning to honor a sincere inner commitment or a change in your life such as a move, divorce, graduation, or a choice for new direction and purpose. Here are some tips for how to create your own deeply meaningful sacred ceremony for release and renewal.1. Pay attention to your intuition to know when it's time for a sacred beginning. You may feel an inner pull to honor a new direction, or you may simply want to take advantage of a calendar date like January 1st or your birthday to renew your focus.2. Acknowledge gains you've made so far in your life. List the things you're proud of accomplishing, qualities that make you who you are, and the major things you've learned during the past year – those revelations that take you into deeper awareness of yourself.3. Identify patterns (such as putting yourself down or seeing yourself as a victim), qualities (arrogance, stubbornness), or habits (smoking, nail biting), that no longer serve you. Write a short or long list of things that no longer get you what you really want. Set this list aside for a bit while you continue to prepare for your sacred beginnings ceremony.4. Focus on your new direction! Contemplate, meditate or pray, and identify very specifically your key decisions and commitments for your new direction. Write these down.5. Consolidate your statements of new direction into a few simple sentences. Craft these words into statements of loving intention for your new direction. Use "I am" plus active verbs and positive qualities to reflect your direction! "I am joyfully expressing my wonderful artistic talent." "I am learning to love and care for myself more deeply than ever before." "I am easily and naturally letting intuition guide me, with magnificent positive results!"6. Create a three part sacred ceremony of regeneration and new direction. Let your ceremony reflect your faith, spiritual beliefs and practices. Make it as simple or elaborate as you wish, so that it fully supports your new direction.7. In your ceremony, first, honor and love yourself. Give yourself lots of gratitude and appreciation for the gains you've already made, the foundation for your new direction.8. Next, release patterns and qualities on your list of things that no longer serve you, such as by burning your page, tearing it up into tiny pieces and flushing it, or burying it in nature. You might want to imagine spiritual Light filling all the spaces in your consciousness that have been released.9. Finally, make a clear and authentic statement of your new intentions. This can be prayerful or practical, but it must reflect your heartfelt commitment.10. Read or repeat your loving intentions daily, maintaining a gentle, loving and easy discipline with yourself. Take small steps consistently in support of your intentions. Allow your sacred beginning to unfold naturally in a stream of uplifting action with both inner and outer success.© 2006 Dr. Ilenya Marrin
