Acer Introduces New Intel Core 2 Duo-Based Home Entertainment Notebooks

Acer, one of the leading worldwide suppliers of IT solutions, today announced two new notebook series based on Intel Core 2 Duo processor: the Aspire 9810 and the Aspire 5630.

Acer defines these two new notebook series as Home Entertainment following a new communication and marketing strategy that associates different user profiles – Home/Private Users, Professional and Small Business Solutions, Small and Medium Companies and Enterprises – with specific product ranges. Specifically, the notebook range has been divided into four functional groups – Desktop Replacement, Mobility at Work, Small Office Home Office solutions, and Home Entertainment that address the specific needs of each target group.

By definition, the user profile also incorporates all associated computing requirements and describes the functions, roles and applications the system is expected to perform. By dividing its extensive notebook range into four functional groups, Acer is now in a far better position to address each user profile.

The user profiles and notebook functional groups complement each other by offering clear definitions of the user’s expectations and helps guide them towards the ideal solution for their individual needs.

The new Acer Home Entertainment notebooks are powered by the superior power of Intel's newest Core 2 Duo processors and are targeted towards multimedia home-users who need a feature-rich system for entertainment and infotainment with superior audio-video capabilities and wide LCD screens.

The two new notebooks feature Intel’s latest Core 2 Duo CPU’s onboard. On selected models, the Core 2 Duo doubles the second level cache memory from 2 to 4MB. Increased cache size provides maximum productivity to the power users and speeds up every operation.

Aspire 9810

Powered by Intel's newest Core 2 Duo processor and featuring Acer’s exclusive Empowering Technology together with the Acer Arcade entertainment suite, the Aspire 9810 is a highly-versatile system that delivers a truly extraordinary audio-visual experience, offering digital PC Television through the integrated analogue and digital TV Tuner and cutting-edge Video and Voice over IP communication thanks to the built-in Acer Orbicam.

Its wide 20.1" LCD display features Acer CrystalBrite technology for maximum screen brightness in all lighting conditions. The panel is powered by the high-end NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card to guarantee an altogether immersive multimedia experience. In addition, the HD DVD optical drive provides high-definition entertainment.

For a realistic and engaging sound reproduction the Aspire 9810 integrates two Acer 3DSonic stereo speakers and one Acer BasSonic subwoofer. Dolby Digital Live allows the notebook to be hooked up via a single digital connection to a Dolby Digital-equipped audio/video receiver or digital speaker system, eliminating multiple cables and ensuring the integrity and quality of the audio signal.

The Aspire 9810 provides a simple way to capture the interactive world of terrestrial digital television. By integrating a TV Tuner for both analog and digital broadcasts, the Aspire 9810 lets users tune in to analog and digital TV transmissions simply by connecting a cable to the specific notebook port.

The Aspire 9810 comes bundled with a handy VoIP Bluetooth phone, rechargeable via the PC Card slot. For real-time face-to-face video conferencing, Acer has equipped the Aspire 9810 with the Acer OrbiCam, a 1.3 megapixel camera mounted at the top of the LCD panel.

Aspire 5630

Offering power and functionality, the Aspire 5630 series is a must for multimedia users. Based on Intel's newest Core 2 Duo processor, this notebook family also offers an amazing 15.4” CrystalBrite LCD display with 16ms response time and a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels with up to 128MB shared graphics (Intel 945GM) memory.

The Aspire 5630 series is ready to receive and collect all kinds of multimedia data, serving as true multimedia archive. Up to 160GB of data can be stored on its Hard Disk Drive while supporting up to 5 formats of memory cards and DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive to protect user’s investment over time.

Acer has equipped all its notebook series with a suite of software utilities – Acer Empowering Technology – designed to provide users with rapid access to the most advanced management and setting functions in no more than 3 mouse-clicks. For example, eDataSecurity Management provides superior security and protection of crucial data by creating a folder that automatically encrypts confidential files, while eRecovery management allows secure back-up of Hard Disk, OS and personal files. ePerformance management provides rapid disk and speed optimization along with disk fragmentation functions, while eSettings management allows intelligent system management. The Aspire 9810 and Aspire 5630 series notebooks are all Windows Vista™ Capable and come with Microsoft Windows Media Center Edition preinstalled. Additional installed software includes Adobe Reader, Norton AntiVirus and CyberLink PowerDVD or CyberLink Power Producer, Acer GridVista and Acer Arcade Software Suite – Acer’s multimedia suite featuring Acer CinemaVision video technology and Acer ClearVision video optimization technology.

All Acer notebooks come with a standard one year warranty, which can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service, which also covers accidental damage to the notebook.
