Acer Introduces New Intel Core 2 Duo-Based TravelMate 8210 Platform

Acer, one of the leading worldwide suppliers of IT solutions, today announced the US availability of the TravelMate 8210, a new notebook series based on Intel Core 2 Duo processor.

Acer defines this new notebook series as Small Office Home Office solutions following a new communication and marketing strategy that associates different user profiles – Home/Private Users, Professional and Small Business Solutions, Small and Medium Companies and Enterprises – with specific product ranges. Specifically, the notebook range has been divided into four functional groups – Desktop Replacement, Mobility at Work, Small Office Home Office solutions and Home Entertainment – and that address the specific needs of each target group

By definition, the user profile also incorporates all associated computing requirements and describes the functions, roles and applications the system is expected to perform. By dividing its extensive notebook range into four functional groups, Acer is now in a far better position to address each user profile.

The new Acer Small Office Home Office solutions notebook is powered by the superior power of Intel's newest Core 2 Duo processor and is targeted towards professional SOHO and small business users that deploy their systems both professionally and privately. Thus, these solutions feature professional connectivity plus solid audio and video functionality to support professional work, as well as entertainment.

The new TravelMate 8210 notebook features Intel’s latest Core 2 Duo processor onboard. The new CPU doubles the second level cache memory from 2 to 4MB. Increased cache size provides maximum productivity to the professional users and speeds up every operation.

The new generation dual-core processing capabilities make the TravelMate 8210 one of the most powerful systems on the market today, offering desktop-like performance, superior productivity, versatility and security to advanced business professionals and corporate users. The TravelMate 8210 series features everything users need to make sure their system keeps up with tight business schedules: the second generation dual-core CPU offers increased performance to support 64-bit applications for the future 64-bit based operating systems, while large dual-channel memory (upgradeable up to 4GB) and generous Hard Disk Drives (up to 160 GB) provides more than enough room to save and manage crucial file archives.

For connectivity, the TravelMate 8210 offers all the freedom you need to stay connected in any environment thanks to its flexible connectivity options, ranging from wireless (WLAN and WPAN), wired (Gigabit Ethernet card) or traditional connectivity (modem). The TravelMate 8210 keeps users in communication through Acer Video Conference technology featuring Voice and Video over IP (VVoIP) support via the LCD panel-mounted Acer OrbiCam and the Acer Bluetooth VoIP phone.

As a true business partner, the TravelMate 8210 is designed to provide safe storage of crucial data and information: the Acer SmartCard Security Solution protects against unauthorized access while the integrated Acer Platinum Secret security software provides one-click encryption/decryption features. In addition Hard Disk damage has been limited with Acer DASP+ (Disk Anti-Shock Protection) technology.

With configuration flexibility, the new TravelMate 8210 notebook series can adapt on-the-fly thanks to Acer Media Bay modules that allow users to change the current module, replacing it with a second battery, an additional hard-disk or a Blue-ray optical drive.

The TravelMate 8210 notebook series is Windows Vista™ Capable and comes with Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition preinstalled. Additional installed software includes Acer Empowering Technology, Adobe Reader, Norton AntiVirus, CyberLink Power Producer, NTI CD-Maker. All Acer notebooks come with a standard one year warranty, which can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service, which also covers accidental damage to the notebook.
