America's Health Insurance Plans on Wednesday said it will announce a plan next month to provide health care coverage to all uninsured U.S. residents, CQ Today reports. According to AHIP President and CEO Karen Ignagni, the plan -- expected to be introduced Nov. 13 -- would involve private sector and government cooperation but would not necessarily mandate a new federal agency. Ignagni added that the plan would be "workable [and] fiscally responsible" and would focus on "prevention and early intervention." Ignagni said the plan would be promoted through a broad national push as well as state-level lobbying. She added that the group will begin to promote its plan to members of Congress after the midterm elections (Armstrong, CQ Today, 10/25).
