An Effective Internet Marketing Strategy Is More Than Just Online Advertising Ii

Having decided on the product, the second step in an effective marketing strategy is the website you will use to promote it. Promotion is of extreme importance and can make all the difference between making a living and making a very comfortable living. Your web site should be designed to sell your product. Every page should have a purpose, whether it is to provide information on the product or to lead the visitor to your sales page. Your ultimate goal is to secure the sale.

Your product will solve your potential customer’s problems and provide them with what they need to know. Your whole purpose is to achieve one of two things. Either will do. You must either make the sale or get your visitor’s email address. Keep in mind that most people do not purchase on their first exposure to a product. In fact it can take up to eight exposures before somebody decides to purchase. In order to make sure that they get these exposures, you must get their email address and at least their first name. That is fundamental to any internet marketing strategy.

One way to do that is to send your visitors to a squeeze page that is designed specifically to get the email address. You can still offer the product on your squeeze page, but the main objective is the address. Once you have that you can sell the product at your leisure. If you don’t get it you have only one shot then your visitor is gone, likely for ever.

The third part of your marketing strategy is advertising. There are two basic types of advertising: long term targeted traffic and short term that provides you with a series of traffic spikes. Each of these should try to secure the email address and build your list. The longer term traffic is achieved through search engine optimization and building good content into your website. You can also get a steady stream of traffic from your list if you handle it the right way.

The short term traffic comes from article writing and submission to article directories and by paying for adverts. Paid adverts can be through PPC programs or placement in ezines and even the local press where relevant. The use of bulleting boards and forum postings can also advertise your website as can a properly designed signature for your emails.

If you understand that an effective internet marketing strategy is more than just online advertising, and you adopt the three essential elements outlined intelligently, then you should be able to build a successful online business that will provide you with income for years to come. Apply this strategy to a new website on a regular basis and . . . well, you know the rest.
