Are We Wasting Our Money For Cable Or Satellite Service?

One evening I switched on the TV and the satellite box and reviewed the program guide to see what was available to entertain, educate or inform me of current events. To my shock, there wasn't much beside the news and weather to see. Gee. Why am I spending so much money each month for programs that I saw many times during the last ten years?

When the commercials provide more entertainment than the other programs offered to the public something is wrong somewhere. Right? Out Of the 200+ channels I receive from my satellite provider for my viewing pleasure fully 60% of them was paid programming. I didn't want to fall asleep, and that's all that those kind of programs are good for. Golf and baseball also puts me to sleep faster than I can count to ten. Well, if I want to hear music there are 40+ music channels available to me, but why do I need a television to hear music? They tell me who created that music so I can buy it. Is that another commercial? Is that all there is?

Certainly not! For more big bucks I can see hundreds of commercial free movies, hundreds of sports contests and special programs that aren't offered on commercial television. Wow! How lucky can I get, or am I just being taken again?

Come to think of it, it's all paid programming but where does those millions of paid dollars go? It mostly goes to actors who can't act, directors who can't direct and writers who can't write stories that aren't filled with perversion, filthy language, mindless violence and pornography, and channel providers who are getting filthy rich from people like me. Is that what most people want to see these days? Worse yet, what does the rest of the World's people think of us? Not much.

The media and entertainment industry must be on an extended vacation, or what we see is nothing more than a recreation of what they want you to see. Whatever the reason, I'd like to see the kinds of programs that were broadcast the the public 30+ years ago, without the filthy language, perversion and pornography. Maybe those, "Boob Tubes," or "Idiot Boxes," really are for Boobs or Idiots? For our money, we should demand a better quality of entertainment.
