You must now choose a title for your article. The title should include the keywords(s), describe in simple terms what the article is about and be short. It should be more than twelve words. Now write the article. It does not have to be a novel, and anything from 400 – 800 words are fine. Use your keyword(s) in the title, in the first 100 characters and in the last paragraph. You can also use it in the body of your article once, but no more. Don’t believe those that tell you that you must have a 1% - 3% keyword density. If you used your keyword 18 times in a 600 word article Google would regard it as keyword stuffing. Three is fine. The rest should contain plenty of words related to your keywords, such as market articles, article writing, etc for the keywords used here. Finally, write your resource box. This is where you say a little about yourself and your website, and provide your URL for any reader who wants more information. Some directories allow you to use html here, but unless you are submitting to these individually, keep it as plain text, and write your URL out in full, including the http://www. part. If you are using html, link to your site using anchor text. In other words, in this case I would provide a link to my website using the text ‘article marketing’ inside html ‘a href=’ tags. This tells the search engines what your website is about and helps just a little in the rankings war.
