Axia Group Inc. Sends Delegation to Sri Lanka

By: Business News

Axia Group, Inc. (Pink Sheets:AXGJ) announced today that executives from the company have recently completed a two week long visit of Sri Lanka. The purpose of the visit was to inspect the progress of ongoing projects rebuilding homes for families displaced by the tsunami and to explore future business opportunities. Axia provides an innovative panel based building technology that is stronger and more versatile than many traditional building methods. This technology was introduced for the first time last year as a faster, stronger alternative for homes in the tsunami affected areas of Sri Lanka.

"Our trip was very successful on many fronts," stated Raj Janan, President of Axia Building Technologies, Ltd., a subsidiary of Axia Group, Inc. "We were able to see for ourselves that our panel technology has been completely accepted by the government, the agencies sponsoring the rebuilding efforts and most importantly the people who now live in the homes. This, in turn, has opened up many new opportunities for us in Sri Lanka and other neighboring countries."

The Axia panel technology consists of wire trusses that are welded together around an insulation core of expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam). After put in place as either wall, floor or roof, this panel is then coated with concrete. The resulting structure is able to withstand winds of greater than 180 kilometers per hour, is resistant to mold, mildew, insects and is highly fire resistant. With this method, a typical 600 square foot home can be constructed in less than two weeks. Axia has two projects underway in Sri Lanka, a 250 home community in Batticoloa of which 50 homes have been competed and turned over to the families. The company is also completing a 20 home community near the southern city of Galle for workers displaced by the storms in 2004.

"Bringing a new technology such as this into a country where traditional methods are valued can be a long and difficult process," stated Jeffrey Flannery, CEO of Axia Group. Inc. "In less than one year, we have now trained more than 200 people in the use of this technology, introduced the system to technical training schools on the island, and have commitments to build more than 1,000 homes, schools and other buildings over the next two to three years. Our meetings with the United Nations, Red Cross and other nongovernmental agencies NGOs were all very positive and have resulted in new proposals for additional work.

"While we are proud of our efforts to help with the families affected by the tsunami, we are now looking to work with companies in the commercial, residential and development sectors," added Flannery. "This panel technology is ideal for all types of building structures from apartments and residential homes to factories and multistory buildings. We made great progress this trip in establishing relationships with the Sri Lanka government and private builders to begin this process."
