Be Honest About Your Product

By: Brian Queenan

I’m sure that you have gotten a lot of over hyped opportunities that have come your way. Some take one or two benefits about the product and make it sound like something really special. Other’s just outright lie about what the product will do. The only thing that is on these marketer’s minds is to make as many sales as possible, as fast as possible. Be very wary of sales copy that promises to make you thousands of dollars in a very short period of time. These are one-shot wonders that will never get repeat sales.

The worst thing that a marketer can do is to make claims about a product that are over exaggerated or untrue. Saying that a product does something that it doesn’t do or saying that a product will make a certain amount of money in a certain amount of time is committing online suicide in my opinion. How can anyone say that you will make “X” dollars in “X” amount of time. Without knowing the person and not knowing his or her level of marketing expertise there is no way that anyone can make such a claim.

Stay away from this type of marketing. You want to gain trust with your prospects. Lying or embellishing what your product does will not gain their trust. If you can make money in a short period of time you can say so. Just don’t put a timestamp on how long because everyone is different and that very fact will dictate how long it will take before he or she will make money. If you want to talk about how much money the product can make, tell your prospects how much money that you have made with the product rather than saying how much money that he or she will make. If your product takes time and work to see results, be sure to tell your prospects that. They will appreciate your honesty and will be more likely trust you and buy from you.

You should always sell products that you actually use because you will become an authority of the product and will be able to answer any questions that your prospects may have about your product.

Bottom line; be honest about your product. Tell your prospects what it does without making it a too good to be true thing. Most people have been online for quite some time now and will sniff out a scam very quickly. On the other hand, being honest is so rare that most will take notice of it.
