Belarusian National Technical University is one of the oldest and biggest universities of the republic and its Faculty of architecture is almost the most authoritative institution that prepares high-class specialists. This year Belarusian architectural school has celebrated its 50th anniversary. Its history starts in 1946 when “Architecture” sub department was formed in the Faculty of building of Belarusian Polytechnic Institute (an old name of the university). In September 1952, directly architectural department was formed in the Faculty of building and the first intake of students took place. This date is considered the beginning of Belarusian architectural school that was headed by A.P. Voinov. In 1970, the Faculty of architecture was established the deans of which were the leading architects of the republic at different times. At present, the faculty carries out methodological security of high and specialized secondary architectural education in the republic. There are 1030 students, undergraduates and postgraduates taking up state-financed and fee-paying education, foreign students from Iran, China, Latin America states and Africa studying in the department. Placement of young graduates of the last year has made 100% (there are even vacancies that were not filled). It testifies to a high demand on young specialists in the republic. Besides, what testifies to the demand and high qualification of Belarusian specialists are perfect references to their work given by different companies resorting to their help. In particular, according to the head of “BNK Engineering” companies group Abdo Romeo Abdo are at no rate second to their foreign colleagues. In addition, the confirmation to this is that in most cases companies invite exactly Belarusian architects to work on their projects. That is why it is safe to say there is a tradition of Belarusian architectural school and to hope that its standards will with rise the lapse of time.
