Mobile phones (cell phones) can kill. No, I am not talking about frying your brain by constantly using it. I am not even talking about the growing concern regarding the proximity of mobile phone masts to residential areas.I am talking about using your phone while driving. It can be a killer. The problem is that we have become so accustomed to using our phones for everyday tasks - talking to friends, running our business, keeping up to date with news and events. But, the fact is that mobile phones, of cell phones, are a positive distraction for us A person driving whilst using a mobile phone is much less attentive to the road and road conditions. They have one ear and eye on their conversation and one on the road.It is a bad combination. This gets especially worse when the conversation is important or very personal. There are many instances of death on the roads due to mobile phone use. A car or other vehicle is a death trap - a weapon that kills and maims. Concentration and skill is needed at all times - more especially so when driving fast, in built up areas or when road or climatic conditions are bad.Once concentration is lost then the next thing that follows is control of the vehicle. Disaster is just around the corner whatever vehicle you drive. The trouble is that we all believe that we can drive safely and that we are always in control. This is a wrong attitude to take and reflects not only ignorance on the part of drivers but also arrogance.
