By: Lance Winslow

The history of Equestrian Sports in America goes back generations and there is no greater horse racing event then the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY. It is horse racing at its finest. The annual running of the Kentucky Derby has a long history of the greatest horse race in human history.

The buildings still look like something out of the fifties and the well-kept facilities make you feel as if you have walked back in time and are experiencing a virtual reality of a past period. Perhaps you have seen 1950s movies depicting that era and you would feel right at home and on set sitting in the stands at Churchill Downs.

What makes Churchill Downs so unique? Is it the history behind the event? Is it the ambiance? Is it the huge monetary prize for the winner? Is it all that America longs to hold onto? Well when the gates open and the horses run, it is an unbelievable event with all its prestige and excitement.

You can feel the energy and all of a sudden back in time you go. Your mind simply says WOW, and it is an experience you can never forget. It is the things that dreams are made of as the jockeys and horses become one with the track and immortalized in time for brief moment. And you can say you saw it all and were part of that day.
