1. I will do every thing in my power to avoid becoming an identity theft victim.2. I will follow the identity protection guidelines in the identity theft KAOS management system.3. I will evaluate my every action to make sure I do not make myself vulnerable to identity theft.4. I will reevaluate my credit cards and close some that are not needed. Note: You can close a credit card even if you have outstanding balances. You (or someone else) just can’t use the card any more after you close the account.5. I will get more paper organized at home and my office.6. I will secure my important documents.7. I will have backup plans in case I lose my important documents. I will have copies of my most important documents stored in a safe place.8. I will get more education and awareness on identity theft.9. I will advise my friends, colleagues, employees and others to get educated about the risks of identity theft and how to protect themselves.10. I will be more conscious when communicating my personal information in public, over the phone, and on the Internet.11. I will make an effort to make sure people are whom they say they are.12. I will make an effort to make sure web sites I visit are legitimate and belong to those who they claim to belong to.13. I will make an effort to make sure e-mails I get come from whom they claim to come from.14. I will make an effort to validate the person on the other side of the phone call before sharing my valuable information.15. I will monitor my credit report as often as necessary to detect any unauthorized transactions. Note: By Law, you can get free copies of your credit reports from all 3 agencies here, annually.
