Control of Your Personal Destiny, Part 2

Control of your personal destiny might very well be be contained within your awareness of the incredibly simple concept revealed in part 1 of this article. In this part, I hope to provide you with the equally simple strategy to take that newfound awareness and alter your life.

I stated that the principle was simple. I did not say it was easy to implement. If you have lived most of your life allowing others to have total control over you or you are allowing the belief systems of others to rule every aspect of your life, it can be difficult, even painful to move forward and break free. But it isn't impossible.

Here is the simple strategy to follow. Take an inventory of your core beliefs along with the habits or actions that have evolved from those beliefs. There is no need to judge those beliefs, habits or actions to be either right or wrong. Rationally examine them by applying this very exploratory question. "Does it work or does it not work" in your life for your personal betterment and fulfillment.

When you see that a particular belief is providing you with the results you are looking for, 'don't change a thing'. In other words, if it's not broken don't fix it.

But we often find ourselves doing things that do not provide us with the results we are looking for or in some cases are actually doing us significant harm. We do many of these things solely because we have been conditioned by others to do them. When you are aware of this outside conditioning, you can choose to 'become the boss of you'. Then you will be in a position to 'change a thing' which will ultimately alter your personal destiny.

Expect resistance from others if you suddenly reject some culturally imposed restrictions on your life but your life experiences belong to you and you should get to choose what works or what doesn't work for you.

There are dozens of areas of life, both at home and in our careers where this outside conditioning influences us and sometimes negatively controls us. Simply becoming aware of this fact empowers us to make changes and have both career and personal lives flourish.
