Create Your Own Web Site Part II

The third stage is to plan your site. You should not start to build a marketing website until you have a plan of exactly what you want to achieve with it. It can be used simply as an advertisement, introducing an offline company to online visitors, or a full blown internet shopping facility where the customer can purchase from a range of products and pay by credit card or a specialized online payment system such as PayPal or e-Gold.

You can get some ideas for your site by browsing through other sites on the internet that are doing something similar to what you want to do. They may be selling the same product or providing the same service. You don’t directly copy them, but you can get some good ideas. They will be, after all, your competitors on the internet so you should be aware of what they are doing.

Once you have a plan of your website drawn up, and know how many pages you need and what will be on them, you can start to build it. You don’t have to do everything at once, and once you get started you can add to it later. The important step is to start to build your site. If you decided to opt for a web host at around $25, they should provide you with a template based system that makes designing your site easy. You should get a wysiwyg html editor, or use something like Microsoft Front page that comes with Windows. Add plenty of useful content to keep your visitors happy and you are away.

Finally, you have to market your site and measure results. You have to advertise, possibly by submitting articles to directories, and track all of the activity on your site. Find out what pages they visit, and how long they spend on your site. Modern tracking software allows you to find out what pages your visitors entered your site on and which ones they left on. This can give vital information as to where you should place the content that you want them to see. If you intend to make money using Adsense, you should place your Adsense blocks at least on the page that they leave from. If they are going to leave your website they might as well earn you a bit of cash as they do so.

It’s not difficult to start up your own internet marketing web site, so check over these five steps again and get going. It could be the wisest thing you ever did.
