The other day I was preparing for two different workshops at the same time. As I rushed up the stairs from my office I fell. That’s right I fell up the stairs not down.As I looked at the dust in the corner I came to two conclusions. 1. I needed to vacuum. 2. I was over tired and need REST.Sometimes we as DIFFERENCE MAKERS need to take the restoring time to REST. So I wanted to share this little mnemonic (some will say acronym) with you. I have also decided to practice what I preach.R- RenewWe need to take time to renew ourselves physically and mentally. Why do I do what I do? What are my passions? How is my body doing? What changes need to be made? Is there a massage in the horizon?E-ExamineExamine relationships, mental decisions, mental status, etcS-ShareShare your concerns and pain with someone you trust. But first be honest and share it with yourself.T-ThanksThere is much we can be thankful for in our lives. An honest reflection on what is “GOING RIGHT” in our lives will help to take the sting out of what is going wrong. So, I am committed to doing this on a frequent basis. How about you? Let’s help to keep each other accountable. Encourage your peers and friends to schedule the time TO REST even if it is only a half-day. It can mean the difference between a healthy and productive mind and body. I am pulling out my calendar now. Go get yours.
