Digital cameras and infrared photography

Infrared photography can be both fun and useful. Day or night infrared photography can provide a fresh view of scenes that you are already familiar with and achieve a great wow effect among your digital photos viewers.
Infrared photography can be divided to two: day and night infrared digital photography. Infrared is invisible light that is emitted by any object and that its intensity depends on the object’s temperature. You might have seen some night infrared digital photos where you could actually see in the dark. The way these photos work is by capturing the infrared energy emitted by the objects in the scene and turning it into a picture. Darkness only means that visible light is not available or is available at very low levels. But even when visible light is not there other light like Infrared can still be there for your camera to capture.
To take infrared pictures you need to use the right equipment, lenses and filters. Like any other photography you should pay attention to composition, focus, distance and so on. In completely dark scenes however this might be hard unless your camera supports an infrared live view mode. The other option is simply to guess and just take digital pictures and then view the digital pictures on your camera. Thanks to new digital cameras this is easy to do and also free. Make sure that you are using equipment that is compatible with your camera.
It takes time to master infrared photography and there are no words that can make you appreciate its results. The only way to really understand digital infrared photography is by experimenting, getting out there and taking those photos and learning from that experience.
