Duality

By: Phil Sottile

Du-al-i-ty n.
A situation or nature that has two states or parts that are complementary or opposed to each other.

Why? There is no explanation.
How? There is no answer.
An unsolved puzzle of purpose

I only know you are here
You are two points of distance both of the same line
No start point, no end range

Our intersection yields no absolution
We only know that we are, and we are settled in that.

I am imperfect, you are without flaw
I lack knowledge, you grasp all that is unknown
I am left, you are right
I am empty, you are fullness
I am incomplete, you are intact

A mere pawn standing opposite a queen:
My unaware to your certainty
My unresolved to your reconciliation
My disarray to your peace

Our reason here: not established
Our time not committed, yet we stand unified in this
Divisibility that separates us; many grains of sand in the hourglass

We only know of one thing:

Our timeline knows no boundary
And our path; unqualified

We sit at two ends of a legless table, strangely firm

Our lives lie upon two opposing ends of a congruent plane, strangely non linear.

Two pristine and delicate glasses when poured, a beautiful mixture takes hold

Our lives traverse into infinite directions of opposite means of end, a time divided union and the duality that binds empties us into the withdrawing tide, taking with it the sand that remains until that day the sun meets the sea.
