I realize that you've probably heard this all your life, especially from people on the television, trying to sell you some contraption that will supposedly make you look like a fitness model in only three minutes a day, but the bottom line is that a little exercise does make you feel better. And we all want to feel better right? It surely seems like we do. If we weren't all spending our money in an attempt to feel better, the alcohol and tobacco industry wouldn't exist. The good news is that you don't have to spend a dime, or fill your body with anything unnatural to feel good. All you have to do is mix in a little bit of exercise. I'm not referring to training for a marathon or even spending an hour a day banging weights. I'm simply speaking of taking a couple of laps around the block. If you aren't comfortable with running, no worries just walk. The goal is to get your blood flowing. If you want to feel great, go hard enough and/or long enough to break a sweat, but that's not even necessary. As I said, the goal is simply to get the blood flowing. If you get the blood flowing for ten to thirty minutes a day, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel. Not only physically, but mentally as well. Our body was made to be used; it's as simple as that. If you live in a climate that allows for it, doing this exercise outside is best. There's something about being in nature that does the body good. And nature, for those of you wondering, simply means outside. Don't forget what Aristotle said about nature, "In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous." Go for a walk outside, and see how correct Aristotle was.The simple fact is that if you would like to feel better, just mix a little exercise into your life as often as you can. There are entirely too many people in our culture that think the next drug the doctor prescribes will make them feel better. Or that that six-pack they're about to power through is going to make them feel better. The problem with this way of thinking is that both of those solutions are temporary and don't actually make you feel better. They both just play a trick on our minds. Give a walk or short run a shot for just a week, and see what happens.
