Let's look at Ken Macha first public comments following his dismissal from the Oakland Athletics.In his comments the former coach raised plenty of criticism at General Manager Kotsay emphasizing his interference in the running of the team.Macha explained that general manager Billy Beane used to make on-field suggestions that made the manager uncomfortable. Macah gave precise example to consolidate his claiming. He cited that Kotsay wanted to place Bobby Kielty on the starting roster as left-handed pitchers. Even though Macha did not share his viewpoint and he decided to follow the instructions. Therefore he started lefty Mark Kotsay in the playoffs against Minnesota's Johan Santana and Detroit's Nate Robertson and Kenny Rogers. Kotsay was very critical about Macha after the manager was fired, while the latter claimed that he has been fired because of Kotsay's decision.In his defense Macha explained that he has always supported the A’s and has shown a great availability for his players. Indeed he explained that he was on the field every day with the players, on the airplane with them. His office is always open if anyone wants to talk to him about something. For Macha, people were maybe not ready to hear the answer he could give, that’s why few come in his office. But as afar as he is concerned, Macha consider that he did everything to initiate dialogue with the players and the managing representatives.I think for the A's it is a totally different story. Beane explained that many of A's had difficulty communicating with Macha after he was fired. Beane emphasized that there was a huge discrepancy between what really happened and what Macha told to press. For Beane, Macha's claiming is only a recollection of events he fabricated himself.
