Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about expensive jewelry or a few dozen roses. If you are looking for an inexpensive Valentine’s Day gift that will knock your sweetheart of his or her feet, treat her to a day of pampering at home. You can create both the day spa atmosphere and treatments right in your own kitchen. It’s not nearly as complicated as you may thing. The spa treatments are simple and easy to make and use mostly household ingredients.Start by finding a day when both of you have at least several hours of free time. Next it’s time to figure out what spa treatment or beauty recipes you will be trying out. If you only have an hour or so, stick with a simple facial. If you have a whole afternoon, or even the entire day, look for a few different treatments from a hair mask to a gentle food scrub. Look for recipes that have simple ingredients and seem straightforward to prepare. Make note of any special ingredients you may need to get and any recipes you need to prepare ahead of time.Next it’s time to recreate that spa atmosphere. Prepare a special cup of coffee, or go all out and chill some wine or champagne. Keep some warmed, fluffy towels ready for cleanup. You may also want to use a soft, terrycloth bathrobe for comfort and to make sure none of the beauty products will get on regular clothing. Grab some soft, relaxing music and light a few scented candles.Next it’s time to give those beauty treatments you prepared a try. Have fun with it and take your time to pamper your sweetheart. Apply the hair or facial mask and give her a shoulder massage while the mask soaks in. Massage each other’s hands with a gentle exfoliator. She’ll appreciate the resulting soft hands. Follow with a rich moisturizer, in a favorite scent for girls, and a neutral moisturizer for guys. Next it’s time to take care of tired feet. Start with a salt soak, then follow with a slightly coarser exfoliator than what you used on your hands. Rinse with plenty of warm water, then slather on a rich moisturizer. Put on a pair of cotton socks to let the moisturizer work its magic while you enjoy a good cup of coffee or a glass of wine and each other’s company.Have fun with this spa day at home and enjoy spending quality time with your loved one. Your partner will appreciate all the extra attention and time with you. Finish the spa day with a light lunch or dinner. Both of you will treasure this special Valentine’s Day gift for a long time. Who knows, it may even inspire you to make this spa day a regular occurrence at your house.
