So you have had that life changing proposal made to you, now it is time to decide on what look you want for your wedding day. What style are you looking for; should you have sleeves, a full length or half length dress, a simple or fancy design. There are so many decisions to make but one thing is for sure, you want the best for you. Once you decide you are getting married, selecting what you are going to wear for that big day should be one of the top priorities on your list. To save on some of the wedding stress you will undoubtedly encounter, you will need to give yourself lots of time to sample lots of different dress types to work out which one is the real you. If you have decided on a theme for your wedding, this will be an important factor in choosing the perfect wedding dress. Will you be having a beach wedding? If this is the case, you will be looking for a style that is not too hot and heavy. Will your wedding be a fairytale style wedding? If so, you will want lots of lace and silk. No matter which type of wedding you have decided on, your wedding dress will play a major part in setting the scene. One more major deciding point is when in the year are you planning your wedding for. If you are getting married in the winter months, you will want a multi layered dress and probably one that fully covers your arms. You will not want to stand there freezing on the most important day of your life. You will want to be as comfortable as possible as your wedding memories will be with you for the rest of your life. When looking at wedding dresses, you will want to try on many different types of dress. Do not just stand there in them when trying them on. Stroll around to see how comfortable they feel when you move. Try different positions of your ceremony in your dress to make sure that you are going to feel comfortable throughout the whole ceremony. How good the dress looks is only 50% of choosing the dress. The other 50% is whether you look good in the dress. You will not be able to look good if your dress is scratchy or if it is a bit tight and you are afraid you might split a seam. A big mistake when selecting a wedding dress is getting the size right. If you have every intention of slimming before your wedding, make sure that you get the wedding dress for the size you are now and not what you think you will be on the wedding day. It is much easier to get your dress adjusted by taking it in rather than having to try to add material if the slimming did not have the effect you were after. With the expense of weddings, some couples try and cut back by making their own flowers, having a family member bake the wedding cake or hiring a friend to take wedding photos. Although it is okay to cut back and still have your dream wedding, don't skimp when choosing your wedding dress. If you cannot afford to hit a wedding boutique and pay their prices, try wedding consignment shops, who offer 'like new' dresses at an affordable price. It does not matter what the style, color or cost of the dress is, just remember that you are who your intended fell in head over heals with, not your clothes. All the dress will do is help accentuate all those aspects of yourself that he fell in love with in the first place. After you have chosen your wedding dress hang it in the bag it comes in and do not over show it. Give guests something to look forward to as they see you for the first time walking down the aisle. And unless it is unavoidable, do not let your future husband see your dress at all before the wedding. It's bad luck!
