On several occasions, President Bush has stated that his policies and vision follow a mandate by God. While not assuming a Prophet status, he has left no doubt that God inspired the many actions that have characterized his presidency.“Georgie, I know you were raised in a Christian family and probably attended Sunday School to learn about the Bible. Since I met you you never paid much attention to the Bible and all of a sudden, especially since coming to Washington, you seem to spend a lot of time reading your bible, something you never did before, know what I mean?”The President of the Free World and Liberator of the Oppressed, stopped reading the leather-tooled Bible with the parchment pages where illustrations by Dore, Bruegel and Mantegna enriched the holy texts. He removed his glasses and turned to the First lady:“I am glad you noticed. Now you know what I am doing when I spend hours by myself in the attic studio. I read the Good Book because I have been told to do so!”“By whom?”“By God himself. He wants me to save humanity and instill kindness and love” He paused and then completed the sentence: “And freedom of course even if I have to torture and shoot them all!”The First Lady, instead of a healthy guffaw let instead a skeptical smile to brighten her handsome features“You mean you talk to God?”Even in the poorly lit studio, the sudden blush on the President’s face was obvious. He replied:“Read the bible, First Lady! Throughout history the great leaders of the world have received divine mandates. You will recall that at a given moment, in the Third Era, Elijah, the prophet, came spiritually to remove the veil of mystery and introduce the period of God's communication with mankind as the Holy Spirit.”“Great scholarship, Georgie, but how did God communicate with you? Cell phone, in person or through someone else?”“In person, dear”“What does He look like?” In a whisper he replied:“Hard to tell. He is of medium height, stout, gray hair and almost bald, wears glasses and keeps a smile on his face, accented by a slight left side lifting of his lips.""That ain't God, man! That is Dick Cheney!"
