Patients who take herbal remedies are a unique breed! They often seek self help and trust the wise words of the local herbalist. Unfortunately they may also seek the advice of friends and relations many of whom do not have the same condition as them.Even in situations where the condition is the same or very similar, the advice that is given may be ill-founded and can make the situation worse. Many patients often see their doctor and, when Western medications and typical medications do not work, revert to the herbalist to seek for rectification of their symptoms. I fully understand why this is so.I, too, have had times where I have not been helped by normal medications and have sought for the type of rectification and therapy which might just make my condition better. There is nothing worse than having a condition which is distressing, disabling, and painful or down right frustrating. Herbal medications can help in certain situations, but we should make sure that these medications are given after full counseling and assessment and by those that are qualified and that we can trust. It can help if patients know what herbs and herbal remedies are available for medicinal care and what the particular properties of these herbal remedies are. For instance, some remedies might help inflammation, some might help restoration and repair, some might help pain and other disabilities. A lot of these types of inflammation can be gotten from books, articles, and other text. Being armed with some of the good and bad effects of these remedies might help reduce the costs, reduce side effects and problems, and also help to rectify the original situation.
