I am going to jump right into this one – at the very beginning. The first thing you need to do is to determine what your target market is. What niche do you want to be in? Are you selling something, or are your referring traffic to someone else? Or are you building a non-profit list? So that is your first step – decide your market or niche. The next thing you need to do is determine who you want on your list. As an example, let us assume that you have decided that your niche is going to be dog training. So if your niche is dog training, who is going to be your potential customers? People with new dogs (puppys) and people with older dogs who perhaps were not trained right in the first place.Once you have determined who your audience is, write a 10 page ebook that solves one of the problems your audience might have. For example, in this case, I might write a 10 page ebook on ‘how to potty train your dog’. I would convert it to a pdf, and offer it as an incentive on my web site for people to give me their name and email address.I would build a squeeze page on my web site (that is a web page that has as its only purpose the opting in of subscribers) and offer the ebook in exchange for opting in to my opt in email list.I would use aweber, com as my autoresponder and let them do all the back office work for me, including keeping my list legal, and automating the sending of my emails. That’s about all you need to do to just get started. Obviously, there is a lot more you can do once you are moving with it, but that is what you need to do to get started.
