There's a single question all successful people ask themselves, and then act on. How do I know? Because, they wouldn't be successful otherwise! So, if you too really want to be successful, you also need to ask it.In fact, because it's such a blindingly obvious question, it gets overlooked more times than not. The question is this: "Why am I doing this?".Take your time to think about that, before you answer. Then I'll tell you the wrong answer, most people give.Ready? Right, if you said your goal was to make a million bucks -- or anything to do with money -- go to the bottom of the class. Making money your reason for doing something is a dangerous delusion, that will only make you miserable.w. And, in case you think I've been sniffing carpet adhesive, let me point out that you only really want money for what it can do for you. What you want -- really want -- is a big house, a smart car, plenty of holidays. In short, all the things money can buy. And, you also want the things that money can't buy, like love, appreciation, respect. So, it's back to the drawing board, whilst I ask the same question again: "Why are you doing this?".You see, the reason you need to have your real intention (other than a mere pile of cash) firmly fixed in your mind is you cannot visualize being involved with a pile of bank notes. Why is that? Because you've probably never seen a few million dollars piled up in one place. On the other hand, I bet you've seen plenty of beautiful houses, you could imagine yourself living in, and probably the exact car you aspire to -- even that beautiful gal or guy you want to date. And, in order to impress your intentions on your subconscious, so it can come up with the ideas that will make your intention a reality, you need to see yourself actually living the life you desire. So all you can do with a pile of cash is roll around in it, laughing hysterically, like one of those old B movies about bank robbers. Not a very impressive scenario, really. But, now you know the elements you need to have, you can set about constructing, in your mind's eye, your perfect day, which must include all the elements you want in your life. So you awake in your sumptuous mansion, with the love of your life lying beside you (no insistent alarm clock, of course). Then you would bathe in your luxury bathroom, before eating your breakfast of fresh Hawaiian pineapple, whilst sitting in the morning sun overlooking Diamond Head -- if that is your ambition. And so on . . right through your perfect day.You might find this hard to believe, but deciding exactly what you want your life to look like, right down to the finest detail, is actually the hardest part of the process. So, once you've properly answered the question, "Why am I doing this?", you will know with absolute clarity why you are working so hard to bring your dreams into reality. Then, when the going gets tough -- as it will, at some point -- and when you feel like giving up on your dreams and "settling" for second best, you can instantly snap on the movie screen of your mind and see your perfect day, in glorious wide screen technicolor. Then you can say, "This is why I'm doing this!". And you'll start over with renewed vigor and vaporize every obstacle that stands between you and your perfect day.Copyright 2006 Paul Hooper-Kelly and www.HowToMakeYourOwnLuck.com
