I'm not as young as I was so motorcycling doesn't come naturally. The cold, the wind, the rain. So why am I embarking on the road of another purchase?The simple answer is that I don't know. I have had several motorcycles in the past - a Yamaha FS1E, a Honda CD175, and Honda Superdream 400 and a Honda CBR600. The last bike laid barren for 2 years until I managed eventually to get it started and then promptly sold it.I had convinced myself that this was the end. After all, I am middle aged and get cold more easily than I used to. And the dirt, grim, muck and smell also put me off. I am not the best rider either and I get a little scared sometimes. So I abandoned the bike willingly - even made a loss on the sale.I was happy. Until my son got a bike at the age of 16. I was cool to start with. He was the one coming home cold and wet. We laughed about how warm and dry my car was. But he kept pestering me to get a bike to accompany him on rideouts. I didn't waiver. I held firm.Then the worst thing ever happened: spring started to arrive. the birds started singing and the days got lighter and warmer. Perfect motorcycling weather.The time since then is a bit of a blur. All I know is that I am soon to take possession of a big, blue BMW K100RT. Hell knows if I can even ride it. It seemed a good idea and I have decided to keep it.. until the rain and cold comes again
