If You Are, That Does Not Mean You Can Think; Most Humans are Like Rocks, Just Softer

By: Lance Winslow

Perhaps you have heard the old philosophy saying; "I think therefore I am" by René Descartes. Of course this famous quote brings up another dilemma and that is just because you are does not mean you can think. There are two reasons for this; one, most humans do not think and are more like rocks, just a little softer and; two, I cannot prove that you are, I can only prove that I am.

For instance, I know that I think and therefore I am, but I'm not sure what all these other people are doing here. Why do they exist or do they exist? For all I know they could just be in my mind. And if you are just in my mind I can not prove that you think. You on the other hand can prove that you think by reading this article and thinking.

But even in doing this can you prove that I exist? How do you know I'm not just in your mind? And if I made you think by you reading this article then perhaps I do exist. Or perhaps this is your article and your thoughts and that too is all in your mind. If you are, that does not mean you can think.

I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.
