Internet Marketing - Create Products or Die

Internet marketing is comprised of two types of marketers - those who create value and develop long term futures, and those who ride on the tides of fads, and are only strong when they pick good fads.

What are some recent fads?

How about banner ads, SPAM, web rings, FFA sites, linking scams, and perhaps even now mass article marketing. As of late, it seems there is a new Adsense fad every other month.

So what does it take to be a long-term player online?

I think you just have to look at the internet marketers who have achieved long run success. I choose not to name names, but if you have been around for awhile, you know who they are. And run the list in your mind. Is there a single one who is still successful, that has not created products and continued to create products long-term? Is there a single fad-rider who is still in the game, unless he has chosen to convert to creating products?

By creating your own products, you develop name recognition and buyer loyalty.

I had my own unique, non-scientific test last week.

I have been averaging about a 1% conversion rate on affiliate product recommendations to my subscriber list. After releasing my own product, I achieved a 10% conversion rate to my subscribers.

Why? I have to think that it is my own subscriber loyalty - and they have never purchased a product directly from me. Everything they have read of mine has been a free product. Anything they have bought from me has been an affiliate product or a private label resale product.

Create products or die.
