Kansas City Chiefs' Executive Jack Steadman Retiring

Jack Steadman has been a constant member of the Kansas City Chiefs’ front office ever since the team was founded in 1960 as the AFL’s Dallas Texans. It would be strange not to see him anymore. This is because Steadman has announced that he would be retiring on January 31, 2007.

Steadman is the Chiefs’ vice chairman and he was the general manager when the Chiefs won their only Super Bowl title in 1969 season. He has been with the Chiefs for 47 years and during that time he has served as the team’s president, executive vice president and chairman. Steadman also received the credit for coming up with the side-by-side stadium layout at the Truman Sports Complex, Arrowhead Stadium and Royals’ Kauffman Stadium.

According to Chiefs’ chairman, Clark K Hunt, besides his father, Lamar, Steadman is the other person who influenced the Chiefs to such a large extent. In a statement issued by Hunt, he said that Steadman has supported the Hunt family a great deal and was the driving force behind every major initiative that they had taken.

Steadman was also instrumental in developing the Worlds of Fun theme park in Kansas City along with Lamar Hunt. With this retirement, Steadman will be also retiring as the chairman of Hunt Midwest Enterprises, which is a real estate development company that owns the world’s largest underground industrial park and has 50 percent interest in a limestone rock mining company, Hunt Martin Materials.

In his statement, Steadman said that he was honored to have worked with and for the people of Kansas City and he would always cherish the memories. He thanked Lamar Hunt and the Hunt family for their support friendship.
