OK, so you are a leader, or are aspiring to become a leader of some type. Leadership means that you are, in some form, the head of something. Over the last few years we have seen the demise of some of the most powerful leaders in the world. These leaders are from business, political, church, and social arenas. There is something to learn from all of these leaders that will help you not only get to the top of your game, but will help you stay there.John Wooden once said, ‘Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there.’ You don’t have to judge these leaders but, in almost every situation where they have fallen, you will see that it stems from some type of character flaw.In your own life it is very important to make sure that your personal integrity and character are always one of your top priorities. Just as John Wooden said, your ability can take you places that you never dreamed possible. However, with higher levels of success you will have greater choices to make, yet you must uphold your character in order to remain reputable.Sometimes it may seem easier to do things that are questionable in order to get to the next level in your life, but the question you should ask yourself is how long do to you want to stay there? You see, if you build your success on things that compromise your character, you will never be able to truly enjoy the success you have because you will always be watching your back to make sure your true character is not revealed. It’s much easier in the long run to build your success on character and principles that will honor you instead of disgrace you. Take the high road in life and live a life full of character so that you never have to worry about being disgraced and your success being taken away from you.
