When talking about list building, I usually go into how to make a squeeze page, setting up an autoresponder, choosing affiliate products, etc. All of those are important to any list building system, and that's for sure.Once all that's set up, what's one great way to get people coming to your squeeze page?Do you belong to any forums? There are lots of them out there, that's for certain, but forums are an excellent way to get people onto your list. There are marketing forums, like the Warrior Forum traffic forums, like NetMarketingForum, and there are program forums, like the Stomper Net forum, where you have to be in the program to participate. All of them are good sources of networking, but you can use them for list building purposes, too. When you post to the forum, you're allowed to use a signature file, often referred to as a "sig" file. You can enter anything you want there, but generally, your name and one URL is allowed. Some forums allow you to use more, but if you're list building, you probably want to use the URL to your squeeze page or the email address of your autoresponder, with indication that it's not your contact address. By that I mean, put a blurb that says, "Join my newsletter at xyz.com. Adding a signature file is very important and you should configure your profile before you even make a post. Also before posting, it's important to get a "feel" for the forum. Read some posts to get yourself familiar with its tone and the people who are there all the time, referred to as "regulars." It's important to introduce yourself, if the forum has a place for you to do that, too. Also read the Frequently Asked Questions or the Terms of Service before you start posting. You don't want to walk into the discussions like a cow in the Lennox store. After you're familiar with the forum, read every morning for a short while, or every night before shutting down. Just don't become a forum addict. Forums can take up all your time, and you have better things to do. Make a post or two every day, link to your list building page, and if people like you, they'll probably subscribe.Remember this includes not just the people who post there, but the people who read and never post---the lurkers. They're often the best source of opt-ins.You can easily find forums online or groups at Google Groups. Join in the discussions, and watch your list building efforts increase dramatically.
