List Building – Why Your Index Should Be A Lead Capture Page I

There are several compelling reasons why you should use your index page as a list building tool, rather than use a squeeze page deeper in your website. In order to succeed in internet marketing you need a list of subscribers that you email to regularly with new offers and products. All the best internet marketers agree that the money is in the list.

You therefore have to build a list by capturing email addresses using a squeeze page and an opt-in form. When visitors arrive at your website, it is generally your home page they access first, since only a few sources allow you to advertise a specific page within your site. Since your home page, otherwise known as your index page, is the first page most visitors will see, that is a compelling reason for using it as a squeeze page, and to sell them and get their email address.

Firstly, your index page is your first opportunity to convince them before they click away. The traffic statistics of practically all websites prove the home page to be not only the most visited page on the site, but also the exit page of most visitors. That means that most of your visitors will look at your home page then leave, without bothering to click to any of your other pages.

Don’t allow them to do this. Put the ‘squeeze’ on them right there on your ‘splash’ page as they call it. Make them an offer that they can’t refuse.
