List Building-Why is List Building Important?

List building is one of the most popular ways to make money online, but why? Why do so many people send so much time and money building a list? Why do people say, “The money is in the list”? – Isn’t the sales page where people buy, where the money is?

Well, in some way, that is true- but in reality, the list allows you to leverage your traffic.

For example, my conversion rate on my list traffic to my sales pages is about the same as my conversion rate on targeted traffic – about $90 per 100 unique visitor page views.

Now, on a daily basis, I get about 125 unique non-subscriber visitors, which of course I convert to subscribers. Now, on a daily basis, I get about 245 visitors to my web pages from my opt in email list. Of course, because of the way I route things, 100% of my income comes from those subscriber visits – but without them, I would only have 125 buying visitors per day – now I have 245. Sure, they are lagged – those sales may not occur the same day they come to my web pages – but they buy more over time. I have a non-unique overall conversion rate of about 35% - that is 35 times what I might have if I were to just send visitors to my web pages, without using a squeeze page and building a list.

So list building is important to me because I make more money with list building, in verifiable ways, than I would if I were not list building.
