On the Internet, Publishing Your First Book May Be Easier Than You Think

On the Internet, publishing your first book may be easier than you think. We’ve all heard the stories of writers that struggle in despair for years and years in an effort to finish their first book only to never have it published. We’re not going to say that writing a book is a piece of cake, but, on the Internet, writing and publishing a digital book – an eBook -- might be easier than you think.

The first reason it might be easier is that digital books – eBooks – tend to be shorter. Where a printed book might be anywhere in size between 250 pages and 400 pages, an eBook might be a mere 40 page to 120 page document.

The second reason, they’re easier is that you have many more choices in how to create them. You can write them on your own, you can collaborate with other writers, or your can merely act as an editor in compiling content together in an orderly way to present as a book. To publish your book, you can simply produce a PDF version of the entire document or use any of the several eBook publishing tools available on the market.

Whatever your method, make sure you do take the time to create a quality book. It’s always a good idea to get the book professionally edited by someone who will go through the book, page by page, correcting any spelling, grammar and punctuation problems with the book. Likewise, make sure you don’t use material that isn’t yours. Acquaint yourself with proper copyright etiquette and be sure to acquire rights to other people’s content before you publish.
