Powerful Tips To Remember Prospect and Client Names – From Your Strategic Thinking Business Coach

Have you ever confused someone for someone else? How often do you find yourself struggling to remember someone's name? It is very important to remember a prospect or client’s name because it is very critical to the relationship building process.

There are some very powerful tips to help you remember names and your strategic thinking business coach wants to share ten (10) of my favorites. Here they are:

#1: Introduce yourself first so you can focus on the other person.

#2: Repeat the person’s name as they introduce themselves. Confirm and repeat the person’s name in the first 30 seconds and make the person feel like there is no one else in the world at that time.

#3: Connect the person’s name with your brain when you meet someone. Look for some reminder cue.

#4: Use the person’s name a few times during your conversation. This is a relaxed and natural way to use the person’s name. Spread out the use of the name – at introduction, mid-conversation and when saying good-bye are the most natural. The caution here is to not overuse the name or it will come across as phony and insincere.

#5: Show a genuine interest in the person you meet and ask them questions about their name and/or nickname.

#6: Adopt a positive attitude that says you will remember names.

#7: Associate the name with the person who introduced you to the person.

#8: Introduce the person to someone else.

#9: Record the person’s name, along with contact and personal and business information in your personal organizer. Visualize the person as you do this and repeat their name aloud a few times also.

#10: Practice, practice, practice all the above!
