First, choose your destination. There are no rules. Many couples choose exotic places such as Barbados, Jamaica, or the Virgin Islands. If you're a fan of Europe, choose Austria, France, or Spain. Even in the United States, the Hawaiian Islands, the Grand Canyon, or Carmel are very popular. Gather hotel reviews and entertainment opportunities ahead of time. Set up transportation and confirm your reservations for the hotel you'll be residing in. Keep your honeymoon upbeat and romantic by planning a plethora of engaging activities like karaoke, plays, movies, long walks, fireworks, or festive gatherings and get-togethers with the locals. Cinema, theater, live bands, folk music, and interesting restaurants spice up the fun.

Talk to travel agencies about visa requirements, get your passport, and certify that you're all set up with the necessary vaccinations. For instance, in Africa, you'll need to be vaccinated against malaria and other common viral problems. Look out for other specific requirements of certain destinations - it is best to ask or do good research - you don't want to end up with a problem on your special holiday.

Leave contact information, pet maintenance, and house-sitting responsibilities with a friend or family members. You'll likely be able to find someone quite easily – and they are bound to be willing - if you've just had a wedding with lots of people of course.
