Produce for Kids® Educates Parents on How to Boost Their Children’s Brain Power

Produce for Kids - an organization that seeks to educate kids on the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables so they can have healthier lifestyles - announced today that it has teamed up with health expert Dr. Phillipa Norman, M.D., M.P.H., author of the book “Feed Your Brain – How to Boost Your Brainpower with Food.”

Produce for Kids is featuring free valuable nutrition tips developed by Norman for children and their parents on its Web site, www.ProduceForKids.org. Norman educates children on how to make the important connection between what they eat and how they think and feel. She strongly believes that fruits and vegetables provide nutrients that energize, nourish and protect each child’s brain. According to Norman, good nutrition improves learning, mood and behavior as well as overall health.

“It’s an honor to have this wonderful opportunity to partner with an organization like Produce for Kids that really understands that each child’s brain is very active and requires plenty of good nutrition,” said Norman. “I love their Web site because they make it fun for kids to learn about good nutrition with great information, games and prizes.”

As part of the fall educational campaign, Produce for Kids has also partnered with Nickelodeon, the number-one brand for kids, to educate children and their parents on the benefits of eating healthy. The campaign, which began this month and runs through Nov. 5, uses promotional programs in produce departments in Meijer, Price Chopper and Publix Supermarkets featuring Dora the Explorer and messaging surrounding the Nickelodeon’s health and wellness campaign “Let’s Just Play.”

Launched earlier this year, the online Healthy Kids Club members track their progress toward healthy living through an online scorecard. The Grand Prize winner will receive a free bicycle and a $750 grant in their name for their school’s athletic department or local Boys & Girls Club.
