Quinn missed out of the first ten days of training camp as he was holding out while his contract was being negotiated in order to ensure a good deal. The main reason Tom Condon, Quinn’s agent, and the Browns were unable to come to a quick decision mostly had to do with his playing time. Condon and the Browns were also hung up over enhancements in the fourth and fifth years of a possible deal. In the meantime he was working out at an athletic training facility in located in Arizona. The six-footer is anticipated to compete along with colleague quarterbacks Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson for the starting job and has likely lost his chance to open the season as the Browns starter. However, head coach Romeo Crennel is not so clear-cut as to simply hand the control over to Quinn and will test him and make him earn the spot, but has referred to him as the quarterback. Cleveland is filled with enthusiasm due to the drafting of Quinn and the WMMS radio station that is home to the Browns placed a billboard in downtown Cleveland to welcome Quinn and thank and show the city's support and appreciation of Phil Savage's first round draft picks in 2007.
