Ramos of 53 years of age informed the press that his plan to slowly and gradually help the team climb the ladder and that he wishes to take the matter and training step by step. He also asked for the club’s fans to be patient throughout the process. Some of the words that he expressed during his first appearance in his new position were the following: “I want to take it step by step and I want to get results quickly to breed confidence and then I can think about the long-term. But this is a great club and the aim is to take us to the top. However, this is the right time for me to join Tottenham and I'm very happy to be here.” He was assisted during the media conference by a translator but assures that he speaks English during training and all players are able to understand him. The former Sevilla’s Coach new deal has a length of four and a half years and many are very excited and thankful he at last made up his mind and accepted the proposal made to him just last week, which is one of four offers he has received over the summer from other Premier League clubs. He walked into White Hart Lane with an inspiring reputation, having led Sevilla to five trophies in three seasons. But not all are happy campers. His former Spanish club stated the following when acknowledging their anger and gave their word to “make sure that Tottenham pay the consequences of this situation, a situation they have illegitimately provoked”. Damien Comolli, Spurs Sports director, did not wish to discuss the remarks made by Sevilla and Ramos reassured he his happy with his choice and feels that he made the correct move. Comolli was looking for mostly for stability when he thought of Ramos as the perfect man and is a strong supporter in the reality that people make a club good or bad and commented Ramos was an excellent selection.
