Because safe driving is mandatory for a safe world, there is no place in it for road rage. Drivers, emotionally out of control, threaten the highways and intimidate people going about simple errands and traveling to work.Fortunately there are people who care about the road ragers, yes, the very ones that are causing the problems, and the people who care are doing something about the situations. I love them.I love grandparents and aunts and uncles who lovingly encourage young drivers to respect themselves and other drivers. These young drivers will not be tempted to road rage.I love parents who set the example and coach their young drivers on thoughtful driving skills. The more the new driver learns about the individual needs of other drivers and the cars themselves, the more they will know that they are part of a family that does not approve of road rage.I love husbands and wives, brothers and sisters, teachers and preachers who encourage a happy driving disposition that cancels any hint of road rage. Taking a few extra seconds to extend an act of courtesy becomes contagious when the other driver smiles in appreciation. Feeling happy is the opposite of feeling rage.I love friends and sweethearts who care enough to demand a change in behavior when a friend starts raging, shouting, making aggressive gestures, swearing. This is especially difficult as rage does not care where it is directed.I love drivers of all ages who have gotten over road raging.I love drivers of all ages who never road raged. Most of all, I love the ragers who are changing, who are taking control of themselves and their lives. They are learning that it is not difficult to overcome their rage. When they change, all of us benefit as our driving lives become more comfortable and enjoyable. Daily we will begin to trust that our loved ones are safer on the road. Even the ragers themselves will be safer. There is a whole team of caring people out there who are making a difference. I love them.Indeed it is a strange love affair, but as each of us starts to truly care, we will develop a rage-free world.
