I suggest that many people have had similar experiences in a variety of different situations. When we are afraid of, or annoyed at something, the visual field tends to take on fearful or threatening hues and shadings. When we regard others with the eyes of love and attraction, they begin to look lovely and attractive. Beauty it has often been said is in the eye of the beholder, and so of course are ugliness, aggression, greed and threats." That statement comes from the book, The Unfolding Self," written by psychologist, Ralph Metzner. His suggestion seems valid to me. I experience what he describes, if my emotions are in sync with the event I am living. My energy vibrates with my feelings. Feelings are the language of the universe. I think we all understand and live Ralph's statement on a daily basis. There are many things that can trigger the negative reactions, as well as the positive. There is contrast in my daily life and it's present so I can grow from it. If everything I experienced was positive, I would not be able to grow and learn to be a grander version of myself. The big question is how do I face this contrast and not pulsate in negative feelings? How do I keep my feeling of well being as constant as possible? I do have the tools to do that, but I need to use them. I need to be aware that my thoughts create the feelings I experience. I have learned that it is my innate gift to feel good. It's sort of like a cork floating in water. The cork is my well being. The cork will float freely, if I allow it to do what it does, but if I hold or push it down, it is restricted. It doesn't float. My feelings work the same way. I can look at something and feel bad about it, thus holding my feelings of well being down. I use my energy to restrict myself and so I attract what I restrict. Once I release those feelings my cork rises to the surface and continues to float. I have control of my cork and the thoughts that control it.It's not easy to look at contrast and be thinking a positive thought. There are so many situations where it just doesn't happen. That's OK. I can accept those thoughts, recognize them and release them when I want. How I want to feel, is my choice. I can begin to reach for a better thought once I catch myself vibrating negatively. It takes some practice to recognize how I feel. I have put my feelings on auto pilot for so long, that it takes awareness to flip my switch.I can be the cork that floats in rough seas. I can be the me that attracts all the abundance the universe holds for me. When I feel myself and let my true emotions guide me in daily life, it becomes a whole new world. It's the world we talk about, as we wait for someone else to give it to us. It's already here, I'm floating in it!
