"Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it by yourself. It is not far, it is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it is everywhere--- on water and on land." That's Walt Whitman's words from his work "Leaves Of Grass." No doubt he is talking about inner discovery. I look in the mirror and realize that what I see has deeper roots than what stands in front of it. My life is a root.My roots can be traced back through family history. I create roots when I live in a certain place for a period of time. I establish roots when I work in an industry, for so many years. I root myself in beliefs about myself and the world around me. I become a root for future generations, through physical love. I eat the roots of many plants. My teeth, hair and nails have roots. The point is, I am a root, or at least I fall into the definition of a root.So I am a root, but of what? As I look over the definition of myself, the common words I would use to describe myself would be "Root Of Love". In all statements about myself, love is woven into every situation or thing. In my family, my profession, the food I eat, and the individual parts of my anatomy and everything around me. Wherever I look I can see love. I believe I am part of the root structure of Love. I am whole within myself, but I am a root from the tree of Love. It's funny how I use to think about Love; it could be gained or lost, transferred or defused, distributed or stolen, or be someone else instead of me. I looked at love as something outside of me. I took every opportunity to look for love, to feel it, to express it. I searched everywhere for it, but forgot to look within. If I look just a little longer at those eyes in the mirror, I would see Love. It's always there, but I learned to hide from it, run from it and deny it, because someone told me that was the way of life. All of that has changed now. I want to be the vessel that holds Love for all life. I want to be the consciousness that loves itself and gives and shares, in order to expand and grow physically and spiritually. I believe I am a root, that experiences and expresses and becomes a grander root within the "Tree of Love," when I remember who I am. As I grow and expand, so does the tree. Love is my truth.
