Six Simple Ways To Guarantee Increased Web Traffic

Not too long ago a new restaurant opened on my street. Every day as I walked to my office I saw him standing patiently behind the counter of his delicatessen waiting for customers. They never came. Then one day, as I walked by, I saw the building owner turning out the lights, locking the door and putting a “For Rent” sign on the retail space. It was sad.

This is what happens to dozens of well-intentioned web sites. They get all ready for business, but nobody comes. Don’t let this happen to you. Business comes to those that seek it. There are six simple ways to guarantee an increase in your web site traffic. These include the following:

1. Search engines: Make sure they know about you and make sure you’re associated with keywords that your prospective customer is likely to use.

2. Online advertising: Use it. If nothing else use programs like Google’s AdWords. Got more time? Investigate banners ads.

3. Conventional advertising: Use it too. Make sure that every press release, advertisement, flyer, mailer, or brochure has your web address on it.

4. Collateralize: Everything you do in business should have your web address on it. Put it on your business card, your front door, your email signature, your business sign, your invoices, and your purchase orders. Put it on your doormat if you think it will help.

5. Article Marketing & Blogging: Get known. Make sure your URL is known as you get known. Writing articles and maintaining a number of blogs is a great way to carry your URL into the far reaches of the Internet.

6. Continuously Tweak: Yes, don’t do numbers 1-5 once – examine them and tune them again and again. Check the search engines, study the keywords, test your advertising, review your collateral, see which articles have worked and which haven’t… continuously. Fine tune where necessary.

Increasing web traffic isn’t really very hard at all. But it does take attention and consistent effort on a number of fronts. You do these 6 tasks and your web traffic will definitely increase!
