The most important time to be on guard in our civilization against international terrorists or those who wish our nation ill are times when our society is distracted due to major news events. The sneaky bad guys will probably make their moves when our attention is distracted. We know that international terrorist plan for years and years for a single attack and during a major holiday, event or something that has a captured our attention in the news this will be the most likely time for international terrorists to make a move.Perhaps not a time when they will execute the final attack, but it will be a time when they use this distraction to further their plots and planning. If you'll recall on October 10, 2006 a small light aircraft hit an apartment building in New York State; during this attack all the news of the day was focused on this rather minor accident. Although four people died in the tragic event it was nothing more than a 2000-pound aircraft hitting a building. The news media of course blew it out of proportion and reported the news event for six to seven hours and discussed the event for the next week on America's television sets. Such a minor event in the overall scope of our nation should not get so much media attention and we should not allow ourselves to be so distracted that we take our eyes off the ball. The sneaky bad guys will use such distractions to make moves and further their plot for their attack and each time we have a media event over an accident the international terrorists learn what scares us the most. If we make a big commotion about a little event and blow it out of proportion, then the international terrorists are watching this and getting ideas of things they can do to cause media attention too. This is quite troubling and is actually helping the international terrorists and not the US citizens. Although this is a philosophical thought for the most part it is something that I hope you will consider in 2006.
