Tanning Bed Bulbs – Finding The Right Tanning Bed Bulbs

By: Adam C. Murray

If you own a tanning bed, then you know how much of a pain it is to replace the bulbs when your old ones lose their effectiveness. Most bulbs can be interchanged, but you should check your manual first to make sure they can support them.

The most common approach is to order the replacement tanning bed bulbs straight through your tanning bed manufacturer. However, this option is usually the more expensive one, but the least hassle. It just depends on how much work you want to go through to find the right bulbs at a decent price.

One of the biggest concerns you should have for your tanning bed bulbs is the quality of them. The best 3 brands I would recommend are Wolff System, Voltarc, and Cosmedico. Try to keep these brand names in mind when your out looking, because the quality is worth the few extra dollars if it comes down to it. They are all superior and high quality bulbs which will allow you to get that perfect tan that you want.

They should be powerful, durable and also the life expectancy of the bulbs. You can usually get all this information from the sales clerk or, if they don't know, from the website that might sell them or have information about them.

When should tanning bed bulbs be replaced?

It's best practice to replace your tanning bed bulb at regular intervals. The best advice I can give when it comes to this is to replace your tanning bed bulbs every 500 hours of use. If your bed doesn't automatically count the numbers of hours of use, you can simply estimate it. If you were to use your bed for 20 minutes a day, then a good set of bulbs should last you about 4 years. 500 hours = 30,000 mins/20 mins = 1500 days = 4.1yrs

If you have a few people who use it regularly for 20 minutes a day, then let's say it's used for an hour a day. You would want to replace them every 500 days or so (about a year and a half). Of course, it will all depend on the quality of the bulbs as well. If you notice that the effectiveness of your bulbs are diminishing, then you might want to go ahead and replace them.
