The 5 Easiest Page Optimization Techniques For SEO

By: Andrew143 Martin143

1. Put Your prominet keyword in your domain name. If you don't already have a domain name registered, consider using one of your keywords in your domain name. For example, johnqpublicmarketing.com will rank higher for the keyword 'Marketing' than jqpmrktng.com would, simply because the word 'marketing' is in the domain name. There are two good reasons not to overdo it, however. First, some people will actually want to type in your domain name, and if it's extremely long, they may have a hard time remembering it or even typing it without errors. Secondly, Google will see this as keyword spamming. Both of these are good reasons why johnqpublicmarketingservingthegreaterdesmoinesarea.com is a bad idea.
2. Name your HTML files with a couple relevent keywords. If you offer pest control services, don't name your services page 'services.html'. Why not try 'pest-control-services.html'? Again, as long as you don't overdo it, Google will see this as completely legitimate use of keywords.
3. Don't just leave it at "Read More". It is common (and perfectly acceptable) for website builders to offer a partial body of text on the front page or a category page and feature a 'read more' link to allow the user to read the full text if they so choose. However, you can provide Google greater insight into the content of your article if you title your link 'Read more about motion tweens in Flash' instead of simply 'Read more'.
4. META Description is important. For many years, META keywords were thought by many to be a crucial element in SEO. However, few search engine value META kewords at present. META Description, however, is an important tag to use; if you have one, it will be used to describe your site to search engine users in results pages. Therefore, it is important to write a fairly keyword-heavy, but still readible and logical META Description tag.
5. Describe your pages within your on-page text links. Although it may hamper your design ability somewhat, it doesn't hurt to title your links to other pages on your site with more thorough descriptions than just a single word. If you have a construction company, why not call your link "Our Construction Services" instead of just "Services?" Again, overdoing this makes your site a negative experiece for both the user and Google.
